Power from Summersville Dam

The Summersville Hydroelectric Project uses water released through the dam to generate electricity. The City received a federal license for the project in 1992, and construction began in 1999.

How the project works

Water travels from the dam's outlet structure through a large pipe to a powerhouse. Turbines drive generators, and a transmission line connects the plant with the utility grid.
